India was a land of very large dogs. That was said by Megasthanes the Greek Traveller of 4th Century BC in his book named Indica. Even today they can grow to very large size if they get good nutrition from early life. My Bobo the Brat (বোম্বেটে বোঁবোঁ) has proved it.

Reference: The book named Indica was only preserved in various fragments by later ancient authors such as Strabo, Arrian, Pliny, and Aelian. The Fragment XII of Indica, Megasthenes Mentions Large/Remarkable Dogs in India under the section dealing with the animals of India. He described them as:
-“dogs of great strength and courage, which will not release their biting grip until water is poured into their nostrils.”
-“Both a lion and a bull were held fast by a dog.”
-“The bull was seized by the muzzle, and died before the dog could be taken off.”

These were the exact wordings in Indica about the prowess and size/ strength of Indian dogs.
