Why any type of spot-on medicine is so important for cats and dogs: Some insects cause deadly haemoprotozoa infection in these pets, causing the parasites borne by those organisms to invade the blood circulation system and destroy the blood cells. Indications/ Usage: Selamec Spot-On for cats (min. age 8 weeks) and dogs/ puppies (min. age 6 weeks) and weighing up to 5 kg. It contains 6% Selamectin (Equivalent to 60 mg per ml) in 0.5ml pipette and is a topical medication used to treat and prevent infestations of various parasites in their bodies, such as Fleas (Kills adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching),?Ticks (Helps prevent and treat tick infestations),?Mites (Effective against ear mites and other mites),?Heartworms (Aids in the prevention of heartworm disease),?Intestinal Worms (Treats and controls roundworms and hookworms).

Recommended dosage:

Minimum 6 mg per kg of body weight.

Now, 0.5 ml pipette of Selamec having 6% Selamectin contains 30 mg of the medicine.

Therefore one pipette can treat up to 5 kg body weight of an animal, either cat or dog. For higher body weight you may use multiple pipettes proportionately or use a higher size such as 1 ml variant of the same brand.

How to use Selamec Spot-On:

• Remove the pipette from the packaging.
• Part the fur at the top of your cat’s neck to expose the skin. Best if you cut off some hair at the spot so that you can identify the location of application through the few minutes that it will take to apply?the full dose.
• Apply the entire contents of the pipette directly onto the exposed skin, but drop by drop. Do not pour the entire contents at one time and waste the liquid that will run off into the mass of fur around the spot.
• The top of the neck is about the only part of the body that the cat cannot lick, other than the top of the head.
• Do not massage or spread the liquid manually. Just let it seep into the skin slowly while you apply the medicine drop by drop, waiting sufficiently to allow the previous drop to get absorbed.
• Ensure that the treated area is not licked by another cat until it’s dry.
• For dogs, the procedure is similar except for the number of spots required for application. 3 locations along the spine are recommended?such locations where the dog?s licks cannot reach. One, at the base of the neck between the collar bones, 2^nd spot in the middle of the spine, 3^rd spot between the two hip bones near the base of the tail. Application of the product should be in cyclic order, drop by drop from spot 1 to spot 3 and again to spot 1?1 drop at a time at each spot until the entire content of the pipette is consumed fully.
• Do not bathe the pet up to 48 hrs from the time of application.

Effectiveness: Protection from parasites is assured for 1 month, but if the pet is not exposed to parasite infested environment, then the effect is reported to remain up to 3 months or more as per practical experience.

Potential side effects:?While side effects are rare, they may include the following symptoms.

• Hair loss or irritation at the application site.
• Vomiting or diarrhea.
• Loss of appetite or lethargy.
• Drooling or increased breathing rate.
• Muscle tremors or seizures (in rare cases).
• If you observe any severe or unusual side effects, contact your veterinarian immediately.
