• Active Ingredients: The syrup contains a combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid.
  • One common concentration after reconstitution is 200 mg of amoxicillin and 28.5 mg of clavulanic acid per 5 ml of suspension. Another human-grade version (Toxo Mox OS) has higher concentrations.
• Intended Use: This specific product, Savavet Toxo Mox, is formulated for veterinary use only. It is used to treat various bacterial infections in dogs and cats, including respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue (wounds, abscesses), gastrointestinal, and dental infections.
• Mechanism of Action: Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from forming their protective cell wall. Clavulanic acid helps by blocking an enzyme that some bacteria produce to resist the amoxicillin, thus extending the antibiotic’s effectiveness.
• Administration: The dry powder in the bottle must be reconstituted by adding sterile water up to the ring mark on the bottle and shaking well. The dosage should be strictly as directed by a veterinarian, usually based on the pet’s weight and the severity of the infection. The reconstituted suspension should be stored in the refrigerator and used within the timeframe specified by the vet, typically within 7-10 days.
• Side Effects: Possible side effects include mild stomach upset, vomiting, or diarrhea. Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing) are rare but possible; if they occur, cease use and consult a vet immediately.
