The Neomec Tablet 10 mg is a veterinary medicine containing the active ingredient Ivermectin. It is primarily used to treat and prevent a wide range of internal and external parasitic infections in animals, particularly dogs, and is a prescription-only product. Not for use in cats!
Description
Very Commonly used for killing maggots in wounds of dogs. IT’S PROHIBITED FOR CATS.
- Active Ingredient: Ivermectin 10 mg per tablet.
- Primary Use: The tablets are formulated for use in animals, mainly dogs, for parasite control. Uses include:
- Heartworm prevention.
- Treatment and control of mites (sarcoptic and demodectic mange).
- Treatment and control of lice infestations.
- Treatment and control of gastrointestinal worms, including roundworms and hookworms.
- Prescription Required: This medication should be used strictly according to a veterinarian’s instructions.
- Dosage: The correct dosage is determined by a veterinarian based on the animal’s weight and health condition.
- Administration: Tablets can be administered directly into the dog’s mouth where it melts readily in contact with saliva or mixed with a small amount of food.
- Breed Sensitivity: Some dog breeds, especially Collies, may be sensitive to Ivermectin due to a potential genetic mutation (MDR1) and require careful veterinary consultation before use.
- Potential Side Effects (in pets): May include neurotoxicity, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite.
Also used for treating mange in dogs.
Typical Oral Ivermectin Dosage for Mange in Dogs:
Demodectic mange: 0.3 to 0.6 mg/kg once daily
Sarcoptic mange: 0.2 to 0.4 mg/kg once weekly (or sometimes every 3 to 7 days)
