Description
Nobivac Puppy DP is a freeze-dried vaccine containing live attenuated strains of canine distemper virus (CDV) and canine parvovirus (CPV). It is used for the active immunization of puppies and dogs against these two serious and potentially fatal viral diseases.
Administration
Nobivac Puppy DP is administered via subcutaneous injection after reconstitution with the provided solvent.
It is generally recommended for puppies from 4 weeks of age onward.
The initial dose can be given at 4 weeks or older, with a repeat dose 3 to 4 weeks later for primary immunization.
A vaccination program can be completed from a minimum of 10 weeks of age.
A booster vaccination every 3 years is recommended for Nobivac Puppy DP.
Effectiveness
The vaccine stimulates an active immune response in puppies and dogs against CDV and CPV infections.
It helps prevent clinical signs, mortality, and viral shedding associated with both diseases.
Onset of immunity for CDV is 7 days, and for CPV, it is 3 days, lasting for at least 8 weeks.
Maternally derived antibodies against CPV do not interfere with the vaccine’s efficacy.
Side effects
Common side effects include swelling or pain at the injection site.
Less common side effects can include lethargy, decreased appetite, and mild fever.
Serious side effects like hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylactic shock) are rare but possible and require immediate veterinary attention.
These reactions can include facial swelling, difficulty breathing, vomiting, and collapse.
Important notes
Only healthy, non-parasitized puppies and dogs should be vaccinated.
Pregnant bitches should not be vaccinated.
Consult with a veterinarian for the appropriate vaccination schedule and to address any concerns about potential side effects or allergic reactions.
In some cases, maternal antibodies may interfere with the immune response to the vaccine.
The age at which maternal antibodies no longer interfere with the vaccine’s effectiveness can vary.
