Weâre frequently asked by customers about what vaccines to start with for their puppies (Pet or stray). While we always recommend that you get the vaccination advice and schedule from your vet, weâre producing the following Ready Reckoner below that will help you to act in time and save your puppy from the deadly viral diseases.
Puppy & Dog Vaccine Advisory:
Check the label of the vaccine before injecting. If the label has Modified Live Virus (MLV) or Live Attenuated Virus written on it, then read on to know more.
Precautions about Modified Live Virus (MLV) or Live Attenuated Virus Combined Vaccines such as ones marketed by Nobivac 5 in 1, Megavac 7, Canigen 7 in 1 vaccine for dogs, to name a few.
- Use the suitable vaccine as per the age of your puppy at first vaccination as per Vetâs advice.
- MLV vaccines should not be used in pregnant bitches unless specifically indicated.
- Puppies younger than 4â6 weeks of age should not be vaccinated with MLV products.
âMegavac-P (Inactivated Virus) or Nobivac Puppy DP are safe for puppies of up to 8 weeks of age and provides Parvo Protection from as early as 6 weeks and up to 8 weeks of age.
âIf your puppy is more than 6 weeks of age, then Modified Live Virus (MLV) or Live Attenuated Virus Combined Vaccines named above are safe.
Special Note:
1) If you use the product of one particular manufacturer from the first dose, do not change manufacturer throughout the first year of the puppyâs life.
2) All guidelines listed below are as per Vaccination Guideline Group (VGG) of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA): For Asia and Indian Subcontinent.
Ref: https://wsava.org/global-guidelines/vaccination-guidelines/

Always feed any liver tonic through 10 days for safe DewormingâFrom 5 days before the Deworming dose, up to 5 days after deworming or as advised by your vet.
Any Vaccination requires deworming to be done at the most 10 days before Vaccination. Please schedule the deworming and any dose of Vaccine with that thought in mind.
Parvovirus and Distemper protectionâCombined Vaccine: These are the 2 primary killers.
3) Common options of vaccine:
a) Nobivac Puppy DP at 7 weeks age or before 6 months of age
b) Megavac-P at 6 to 8 weeks of age.
If your puppy has crossed 10 weeks of age, you should not use Megavac-P; you should then go for Nobivac Puppy DP or Canigen 7 in 1 vaccine.
-Repeat sl. No. 3) after 60 days with booster dose of same brand of vaccine.
c) 90 days after the puppy stage booster dose, use Megavac-7 (7 in 1 Vaccine) or Nobivac DHPPiL (5 in 1 or Canigen 7 in 1 vaccine for dogs, as per the manufacturer that you started your first dose with in the beginning.
