How to easily feed tablets / capsules to any dog

The Art:

1. Observe the dog for a minute and watch his body language, look for signs of friendliness to human touch. If he’s friendly, this method works. If not, there are other ways.
2. Make a friendly and non-threatening approach towards the dog in a playful manner. Dogs love to play, so play with them.
3. Do it right first time. They don’t usually give a second chance. The first success removes his fear and the subsequent doses on following days face lesser and lesser resistance if it becomes a play activity for them. Watch the playful stroke given to this dog right after he swallowed. He will want that again and again!

The Science:

1. Understanding his reflexes, his mobility, his capability of making body movements in all imaginable manner.
2. The manner of grip that will not allow him to escape and avoid until you are done.
3. To understand how to avoid an accidental panic stricken bite.
4. To understand that he cannot at all bite or chew your fingers if you quickly open his jaw fully by gripping his upper jaw just behind the canine teeth.
5. When the jaw is opened, insert your hand fearlessly, because his jaws will have no leverage to clamp down when fully open.
6. Make sure you release the capsule or tablet at the point of no return–that’s behind the tongue, but on either side of the tongue. If you release it on top of the tongue, he will somehow rub his tongue against the roof of the mouth and thrust the tablet out.

Summary: You can do this for any dog that doesn’t run away as soon as you touch.
